LA County Fair * Must See Los Angeles* Digital Scrapbook Kit*

It’s here it’s here it’s finally here!!!!  Cant quite wrap you head around Los Angeles having a legit county fair?  Well they do!

La County Fair

Animal races, deep-fried food, free concerts, carnival games, award-winning food and arts,  and shopping!  Growing up right down the street we watched for a whole month while they set up for this glorious affair.  We got to watch the rides getting trucked in, booths getting set up and the famous cattle drive down Wheeler Avenue straight to the fair.  Few things have changed since than, you can still count on hearing a children’s choir sing, watch a few toddlers tap dance their hearts away, and eat the latest food on a stick craze.

Try something a little different for Christmas this year and give the gift of a museum membership.  You can take the train and make a whole day of it.  If you aren’t lucky enough to live in the SoCal area check where your local Natural History Museum is and check it out!  Report back to us if you  visit one we haven’t!!  We are dying to see what they all look like!

Sidecar Doughnuts *Costa Mesa* SoCal* California

We can’t say for sure if cupcakes have taken a backseat to other sweets, but for us they have!  Leaves room for plenty of other sweets.. like doughnuts, pies, waffles, yogurt and ice cream!

And by flavors I don’t mean just maple bars and glaze… I’m talking about:

Valrhona Chocolate Brownie with Toasted Walnuts
Banana Nutella
Malasada
Apple Pie with Tillamook Cheddar
Huckleberry

Cinnamon Crumb

Strawberry Shortcake

Toasted Coconut
Madagascar Vanilla Bean Twist
Maple Bacon

Malasada with Haupia Filling

Green Eggs and Ham

And these are just this weeks.  They change them weekly.  I always miss the carrot cake doughnut.  This tells me it is wonderful and I need to get their at 6:30 next time.  So far my family favorites are maple with bacon, buttermilk, Monte Cristo and Huckleberry.

New Disney Movie Planes

bcuculuvme Disney Planes

Are you all ready for another Disney smash this Summer?  Just when we  thought there wasn’t going to be another movie release after Monsters Inc University… we get some good news!  Planes August 9th every little boy and girl will be on the edge of their seats eagerly awaiting to see this on the big screen!

Now before you wrap you mind around sitting there for two hours watching a kids movie let me remind you that Dane Cook is in this movie!! Oh Yes!  Wrap your head around that one!!  I cannot wait to listen to the good clean humor he is going to contribute to this movie.

Bcuzuluvme Disney Planes

You can take this movie to a whole other level by watching it at the El Capitan Theater, from August 9 – September 18 you can get a real Hollywood experience.  Tickets are $16 for adults, $13 for children.  Before the movie they have a Wildlife Live On Stage Show, and after the movie you can walk through an exhibit with planes from the Planes of Fame Air Museum.

I would recommend making a complete Disney Day of it and eat at Disney’s Soda Fountain right next door (think Disneyland meets Farrell’s).  The menu offers food but why order food when there is ICE CREAM?!

You can take your chances and make this one a drive – in movie… BYOB ( B as in beverage) kind of movie.  While the kiddos are waiting for the movie to start here is a link for some coloring pages to keep them busy.

Wherever you watch the movie have fun, eat popcorn, and  enjoy the trailers!
