Halloween is one of the holidays that I am slightly obsessed with. I have no idea why…other than I love orange. You would think that I celebrate this holiday year round with the amount of crafting supplies that coordinate with this holiday. I cannot help myself this year. I am adding to my ever growing, one time a year, collection.
To the top of the list goes…
Happy Haunting Stamps by My Mind’s Eye
Happy Haunting Collection Kit Carta Bella
Papertrey Ink Trick or Treat Stamp Set
Mama Elephant Bootastic
I have to stop myself right there… but aren’t they so cute? My goodness!
PJ here… Well now that we are back to school I find I have a little more time to myself during the day to do whatever it is that I want to do. After school drop off, cleaning up around the house and throwing a load of laundry in the wash, what are me and my little girl supposed to do while the big kids are gone?!?! We go shopping!!!! There is ALWAYS some type of shopping to be done in my household. It could be grocery shopping. It could be school project related shopping. It could be “I forgot to pick something up the last time I went shopping” shopping! It does NOT help the fact that I live literally across the street from a Target, Michael’s, Dollar Tree, Ross, Party City, Stater Bros, Marshall’s and Kohls! Pretty awesome if I do say so myself!!!! This leads me to my latest trip to Marshall’s. I went there with the original idea of checking out their winter boot selection. With Kamryn by my side I always have to let her look at the toy section of the store when we are there first before any browsing can be accomplished. Next to her toy section is the home goods section. This is where I stumbled upon the office supply isle!!!! And what do I find in this particular isle??? I found scrapbooking supplies!!! NOT just any old scrapbooking supplies but the name brand stuff like Crate Paper, American Crafts, Pebbles, and Studio Calico!!!! And it was all at a fraction of the cost!!!
Check out my latest crafty haul from Marshalls!!!
All 12×12 paper pads for $5.99!!! Do you see that Pebbles paper pad??? That is the newest collection from Pebbles From Me to You and it was only $5.99!!! The 6×6 paper pads were $2.99!!!
All Thickers and accent stickers were $1.49!!!
And that fabulous roller stamp from Studio Calico was only $2.99!! CRAZY right?!?!
All this at Marshall’s of all places!!! Moral of this story? Look at your surroundings… you never know what treasures are waiting for you.
We all have that website, or blog we have to visit a few times a week right? One of my favorite scrapbook blogs is GeekGalz. I love her work (not to mention she is a photographer so her pictures are awesome) but her color combos are amazing too! She is a traditional 12×12 scrapbooker and is also doing Project Life. Evelyn is a Crate Paper design team member and has an impressive resume’. She takes clear colorful pictures of her work and detailed close-ups of the layouts as well. As if taking amazing pictures of her layouts weren’t enough she even lists what products she uses on her pages….now that is pure love! Enjoy some of her work below and then go stalk her on Facebook, Instagram, and her blog!
Here is a sample of a 12×12 layout
Isn’t she just wonderful? Big fan of hers right here!!!
We are highlighting yet another monthly subscription kit company, Citrus Twist. Their blog is full of sketch ideas, layouts, Project Life (Pocket Life themed) layouts and ideas. One of the main highlights I like about Citrus Twist is you are not locked into any long commitments if you want to buy their kits. You can buy it month to month or enroll in three-month contracts. Completely doable in my opinion, plus they have a stamp set! Any company that offers a stamp set pretty much has me sold!
This layout is one from their blog. I loved this layout because it shows the everyday activities in our daily lives; the things we might overlook or deem not scrapbook worthy… text messages, inside our purse, maps just everyday stuff . You can seriously get lost for a couple of hours on their blog. It will inspire you to get to work on your projects right away.
CItrus Twist has a few different subscription choices and it even has a store to shop from. Here is some information straight from the Citrus Twist website:
Each month we deliver scrapbooking happiness-in-a-box to inspire you to create page layouts, Pocket Life and cards. We search through current products—and find inspiration from vintage items that we handcraft into something contemporary for your pages—and coordinate it all beautifully. Our kits are packed with fun and great value.
Here’s what you can expect from our main kit each month:
- A variety of patterned paper from different vendors
- Solids to coordinate with the patterned paper
- At least one alphabet set—sometimes more!
- A stamp set and ink pad (our stamp sets are Citrus Twist exclusives!)
- Embellishments like ribbon, twine, stickers, chipboard shapes, banners and more!
Here’s what you can expect from our pocket life kit each month:
- A pad of 6 x 6 paper
- An alphabet
- Journaling cards (at least twelve 3 x 4s and four 4 x 6). Some are Citrus Twist exclusive and some come from other manufacturers
- A stamp set (our stamp sets are Citrus Twist exclusives!)
- Embellishments like twine, stickers, chipboard shapes, flairs and more! Each kit will have a small variety of embellies.
Here are the contents of July’s kit so you can get a better idea of what you are really getting.
Check them out you might just find out you like what you see! Did I mention they have stamps!!!!!!???
Project Life Sketch Challenge ~ August.
Sometimes you need a little guidance… we all need it from time to time. It’s been known to happen, sometimes….rarely…on occasion, but when I am creating I hit a total roadblock…. like a total blank! While I sit in my craft room surrounded by tons of supplies and inspiration there should be no reason for this lack of creativity. With Project Life being fairly new I knew it would be hard to find a sketch book already out.. (what’s a sketch book? Think along the lines of recipes for food). Sketches usually have some sort of layout and then you interpret it however you want. The heavens answered my prayers and someone instagrammed a sketch group online!!!!
Check out this month’s August sketch
Now here are two of my interpretations on this design.
Products used: Dear Lizzy, Mama Elephant Stamps, bcuzuluvme, MME, Silhouette.
These handy little sketches help me in my time of need. They have been a lifesaver. Give it a try! Show us what you create with this!
We just can’t get enough of Crafty Bands and Project Life… sprinkle in a little Martha Stewart and BAM! Scrapbooking BLISS.
Now you all know we just can’t get enough of our Crafty Bands tool. It makes the perfect embellishment for your Project Life cards. And let’s face it, it’s hard to find embellishments that are the perfect size for the 3×4 or 4×6 inserts. Basically its perfection and we are in love with it… so don’t act all surprised when you see us use it the rest of the week!!!
Now where is the Martha Stewart you ask???? See the Martha Stewart labels? I used the bottom label and had some white space left on the bottom of the sticker sheet. I stamped the date with my date stamp and stuck it on my project life card. Don’t throw away good sticker sheet trash!! Now go create with your Crafty Bands tools and if you don’t have one… sorry charlie you need to get one!
Camera’s are all the rage right now. Real cameras…camera shirts….camera stickers….camera bags, pretty much anything with a camera on it!
^^^^These little beauties are a part of the cute camera gang.^^^^
How can you not want to stamp with this once it’s in your hand?
^^^first design the Fotka style^^^
^^^the second design Poulain^^^
It is a great photography marketing tool…just think how cute this would be stamped on your CD’s, business cards, brochures…anything. Any Project Lifers out there? It’s the perfect size for your 3×4 cards. Check back for ideas on how we use this little gem!! We have had this in our store for a year now, we’ve reordered a few times! It’s a super popular one get it while we have it in stock! Any local peeps??? We can arrange a pick up to avoid shipping charges. Stamp away my friends.
Last but not least another perfect stamp company. Evalicious. They are a small indie shop with more than just stamps. Their designs will draw you in and you will stay awhile looking at all they have to offer! Though they are not Made in America they are made by our BFF…. Canada. We felt this would be a perfect company to end our favorite stamp company series. Now go get to stampin’ we want to see your projects!
Bananafish Studios is just a whole lot of deliciousness. You are not going to beat their prices anywhere. You are going to fall in love with their designs. You will be able to afford to buy all their designs. You will want to use them on everything. Their designs are so streamlined and clean (aka short and sweet)… I feel this post needs to be too. We out.
Moving on with our Stamp Highlight week we are excited to share with you… Avery Elle. They have so many original hard to find designs such as Papel Picado Banners, root beer/beer bottle & pretzels, and even balloon animals! It makes them stand out from the stamp crowd. Another proud Made in America Company, with super quality and prices.
